PELAGIC
Note: Due to prolonged illness I am no longer able to provide designs or support for them. These pages are otherwise left intact to provide continuity and a reference for my designs. I am unable to answer emails or correspondence. Thank you for your support over the years; I have enjoyed working with all my clients and wish you fair winds in all your endeavors. Comments by the designer:
This pocket ATB is loosely based on the PERKINS 26 ft. tug model, with twin screws, and a 46 ft. barge which mates with the tug via an articulating joint. Makes an easy to handle combination that can be separated for individual use. This is a true ATB design, with the tug firmly, and comfortably, nested into the stern of the barge for superior handling and rough water abilities. The flush deck barge can be fitted out as a research platform, a construction or dredging barge, a goods carrier, or even a floating home.
The tug has a unique layout inspired by my design for PORT ABERDEEN which gives more visibility over the barge and additional space within, but with a North American appearance.
PELAGIC is powered by twin Detroit 4-71 diesels but any engine with similar power could be substituted. She should be built in steel or aluminum only.
